I'm exploring new ways of teaching Mandarin(Chinese), which NOT completely follow the school syllabus but solving the Chinese learning problems of children from fundamental factors. There are many factors to affect the level of children in Chinese comprehension and composition, such as vocabulary, grammar foundation, past experience, reading ability and habits, and thinking ability. If the children didn't build a good fundamental, they will feel very difficult to improve their Chinese level throughout the primary and secondary school career. My teaching objective is different from test-oriented education, but to focus on improving the students' Chinese foundation from the root. I think that to really improve the Chinese language ability, it is often inefficient or even ineffective to do a lot of academic exercises. (I had used this method to teach students before, but, in fact, the result depends more on their own level. Instead, it is useless, and also increases the frustration of the children, causing them to lose interest in learning this subject for those who weak in Chinese.) Therefore, I will design a teaching system to accumulate children's vocabulary, master the common grammar, develop reading interests and systematic methods, helping them to practice their ability of thinking and so on. This method is under development and is in the experimental stage, so it is not yet matured. Because of the reasons above, I may not suitable to teach the students who are Standard 6 or in Form 3, because the needs of them are focusing on the preparation of the exam. The objective of my course is to build a concrete foundation in this Language may cause them or parents become more anxious (since they have no time to learn the basic but have to deal with the final result) My teaching methods are the product of blending different educational concepts and models, including but not limited to gamification and deliberate practice. I hope to create a happy and positive systematic learning method and environment for children so that children can be more confident in Chinese learning. This is my mission.
