With different students, my approach toward them change drastically. There two type of students that categories into dependent and self-directed. Dependent students require supervision to ensure maximum efficiency and self-directed students will be given homework in form of delegation. It is all about discipline, consistent teaching will embedded the students with knowledge they needed. I taught a small group of promising students in Chemistry class, most of them gained B+ in the final exam. With many students, I learned that each student have different approach toward their studies: dependent, or self-directed. These two categories requires different approach: supervision and delegation respectively.
Depending on the needs and learning style of the student, my method differs. My teaching philosophy, however, is focused on empowering learners to think for themselves, using examples of the real world whenever possible. I start from the topics with which the students are comfortable and shift gradually as their trust builds towards more complex areas. I use questions and examples to constantly verify comprehension. I don't teach or ask students to memorise stuff.
