Experience:

I am currently a Ph.D. Student at the University of Southampton. I've just moved back to Malaysia recently. Currently, I'm working as a teaching associate at the University of Southampton Malaysia campus. I taught a wide variety of subjects, from python programming to math and electronic systems.

Approach:

I usually do a 1-2 hour intensive sessions with students, starting with 15 minutes of revision of last week's class. Then, we will go through the current week's topics. Students will be able to stop me at any time if they have any queries. For science subjects, I like to use analogies and stories to get the idea across to the student. This is important as I want the students to understand the concept, instead of just memorizing the answers or the solution. After going through the topic, I will give the students a short exercise (30 mins). I will mark and give feedback on the spot while monitoring the student's thought process while they are doing the exercise. I don't believe in giving homework, as it will burden the students with more work. Sometimes, I can help students with parts of their schoolwork which they have a problem understanding.
