I have been teaching English syllabus based on Singapore concept and malaysian syllabus. Tutoring Approach

I review their homework and tests to see which specific areas they are consistently struggling with. Then I give sample problems to zero in on weak areas. I also ask what areas they find difficult. My aim as a tutor is to create in my students a deep understanding and confidence in answering exam questions and  being able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems.   My philosophy is based on the idea that learning happens in an environment of mutual respect in which the student is encouraged to think and make new connections for themselves.  My experience has been that one-to-one personal tuition has a unique value to students because of the ability to resolve the students’ personal barriers to learning in a way that lays the foundations for a deep and lasting understanding of the subject. My approach varies depending on the student’s needs and learning style. However my teaching philosophy is based on encouraging students to think for themselves, using real-world examples wherever possible. I start from topics the students are comfortable with and move gradually towards more complex areas as their confidence builds. I use questions and examples to check understanding continually.  I don’t lecture to students or ask them to memorise things.  Nor do I do the students’ homework for them! I usually focus on exam-style or past paper questions in order to check, practice and perfect the student’s understanding and technique. I also give a lot of emphasis to some of the less obvious but vital skills such as essay structure and technique, logical thought, and the effective use of numbers and graphs. I believe passionately in the huge value of tutoring to students and take great satisfaction in seeing my students achieve their full potential.

I have been a Science, English and Sejarah Tutor since January 2016 for various tuition centres and home tuitions in Johor Bahru. (Pusat Tuisyen Udaria, Tatapan Minda, Sekolah Menengah St. Joseph and Sekolah Tun Fatimah).   I am apt in teaching English from Primary level to adults. I am also skilled in teaching Science/ Sains for Primary students to SPM level students. For Sejarah, I have had 2 years of experience in giving my SPM students my History knowledge, in and out of text book. As I have deep passion in general knowledge, I am very able to teach Geography as well. I have been teaching for over 4 years, and was an engineer for over a year. STARTERS: I would approach the student with basic questions related to their day. (How was your day, what did you learn? what was good about the lessons learn in class? what is your weakness etc). Student on the other hand, must be prepared for their lesson and must not be easily distracted by their surrounding.

LESSON/CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT: I will follow the topic/chapters student have learnt in school. Student to show what they have learnt in school. I will review together with the students of the topic that they are currently learning. I will help on their problem solving skills/critical thinking skills required for the topic/chapter.

ENHANCEMENT: We will do review questions together and student will attempt on doing similar practice questions together. I will ask student to give a a feedback on how they understand the given task/problems and what should they do to improve on their skills.
