My approach is firstly by understanding the goals of the student: why do they need my tutoring. I find out what are the immediate, medium term and long term goals, and also their aspirations in life. I tailor my approach and lesson plans based on these goals. Through my years of working with students in physics I've learned that the problem is often in one of two areas. First, since so much of high school physics is mathematical, students may need support with some of the underlying math skills on which physics is based. Alternately, I find that students sometimes find it challenging to grasp the highly conceptual ideas and theories inherent to the study of physics. Whichever the case, a private physics tutor can be the difference between a good grade and a great one. Take, for instance, the common situation in which a student is too shy or embarrassed to admit that he or she didn't understand a point the teacher made. One of my primary responsibilities as a private physics tutor is to slow things down for the student and insure that he or she fully understands a concept before moving on. Whether they spend lessons reviewing difficult ideas, practicing and drilling on problems, or preparing for upcoming quizzes and tests, my primary goal is to insure that the student understands the material and earns a good grade.

I will plan my lessons to suit my students' and my own time, so that both of us will get the best out of the time. Before I make my students do questions for hours and hours on end, I will make sure they know how to properly apply formulas and also understand the question itself. You can't solve a question blindly without knowing what it wants. It's detrimental to students' knowledge.

Then, I would divide the topic to several digestible chunks to ease student's understanding. The unique of my lessons is that I will use Richard Feynman's technique after each session. The method is proved to be one of the best learning technique and inspired from the great physicist, Richard Feynman himself.
