I am Naqib Al Hussaini, a dedicated education student currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (B.Ed. TESL) at Universiti Malaya. With a current CGPA of 3.84, I bring a strong academic background and a passion for teaching to my work.

As an Online Teacher with UM Smart Tutor from 2020 to 2021, I successfully delivered English lessons to students in Forms 1 to 3, honing my skills in online instruction and curriculum development. During my time with the PEARL Project at Masjid Jumhurriah from 2022 to 2024, I served as a Lead Instructor, where I designed and implemented engaging English classes for children aged 9-12. This role allowed me to develop my skills in curriculum development, classroom management, and fostering a love for learning among my students.

In 2023, I expanded my teaching experience as a Practicum Teacher at SMK (P) Sri Aman, Petaling Jaya, where I taught English to students in Forms 2 and 3. This hands-on experience in a formal classroom setting further enhanced my teaching abilities and provided me with valuable insights into student needs and effective teaching strategies.

BA Economics / Teaching English

Experience

I have more than 5 years experience in teaching English and Mathematics. I have a BA Economics (Calgary, CANADA) and I also hold a Certificate  to teach English to Young Learners from the British Council, Kuala Lumpur. I have been teaching English using the Cambridge syllabus at a Cambridge English Assessment Centre. I also teach English and Mathematics in the Malaysian curriculum (UPSR, PT3 and SPM). Generally, I conduct Mathematics tutoring (Year 5 and Form 1) in both English and Malay so that my students can be proficent in the English language too. I have more than 2 years of experience in preparing for English examinations such as MUET and IELTS. I conduct weekly group coversational English class for adults and I have also been a regular volunteer English teacher at a refugee school.

I normally will assess the students first with the standard text book and format available. When I already understand the student's needs and requirements, I will customize my teaching style to suit the individual student. I find this personal approach effective because no two students are the same. Personal approach and customization are my key factors.

I will plan my lessons according to the student's weaknesses. First, I will look at the student's exam papers to identify areas for improvement. Then, I'll provide solutions based on my experience. I will also strive to find the simplest way for the student to understand the content, by giving examples and utilizing different languages for explanation. If necessary, I can make notes for the student to facilitate faster studying.
