I would like to divide my course into beginner level, intermediate level and advanced level. I would prepare the syllabus according to student's request. For example, if a student wants to learn to speak only, I would emphasise more on speaking. If the student is a businessman and will travel to Mainland China, the course will be packed and students will learn the vocabulary and phrase widely used in Mainland China. There are many accents in speaking Mandarin. Mainly divided into Mainland China accent, Taiwanese accent, and Malaysian local accent. Depends on what or where the student plan to work and go, the difference in accent and vocabulary will be taught. Beginner level is suitable for those who do not understand or speak a single word of mandarin and wish to learn to communicate in simple mandarin. In this level, you would learn the level correspond to kindergarten and standard 1 to 2 primary school level. You will be taught to write, speak and read. In every session, I would spend the first hour to teach the lesson of a short essay. The student will be asked to read it with my assist. Then, we will learn new vocabulary from each lesson. Then we will learn to write the new vocabulary, read, and recognise it. The following time of the session includes 听写, which means spelling to improve the memory of the new vocabulary. During the spelling session, I will read the vocabulary we learn in the previous session and the student will try to write it out. Then, I will point out the mistake made by students, and a correction exercise will be done by students. Students will need to practice the new vocabulary before the spelling session. If there is extra time, I would teach the topic requested by the student. For example, if student request how to order a food in Mandarin, I would teach them for their own interest. The syllabus used is a primary school textbook standard 1, SK level. The time of the course is based on student's interest and what level they want to achieve.
