My approach to tutoring is that I tailor my lesson to the needs of the student. I will tutor in my own home or that of the student. I will vary my style depending on the ability and needs of the student. I aim to run my lesson in support of the progression of my students through their music syllabus, but I am also willing to progress more slowly and focus on particularly weak areas if the student so desires. I will also offer pre-exam revision sessions for all exams including ABRSM, Trinity and IGCSE Exam. As I aim to tailor my lesson to the individual I do expect students to maintain regular contact in regards to their progressions and their individual needs. A UCSI Trust Scholarship recipient, Tee Zhi Yin graduated from the Institute of Music, UCSI University with first-class honors. She majors in Classical voice under the tutelage of Prof. Ian Lim Kean Seng and minors in classical piano. She studied both piano and voice under Mr. Woon Chi Choong in her formative years.
In 2023, Zhi Yin won the third prize award in Medici International Music Competition. In the same year, she is invited as one of the voice and piano jurors of the Hong Kong International Music Festival.
Zhi Yin is also active in choral performances and competitions. In 2018, she participated in the Taipei International Choral Competition 2018 as a chorister in the UCSI University Chamber Choir and won a silver award. She is also an active member of Dithyrambic Singers and has performed several chorale works with Malaysia Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) such as Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, under the baton of Maestro Roberto Abbado. In 2019, she performed Tchaikovsky's Queen of Spades opera as a chorister with MPO, under the baton of Stanislav Kochanovsky and Distant Worlds: Final Fantasy (MPO), under the baton of Arnie Roth. In 2020, she is appointed Soprano sectional leader during the UCSI Chamber Choir's competition in South Korea and won two gold medals in the Adult Choir category and Contemporary Classical Music.
As an alumnus, she is invited by the Institute of Music, UCSI to feature as a soloist singer for the UCSI Chamber Choir and UCSI Concert Choir's concert 2022. In the same year, she also performed a Disney Song “Let it Go” with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) alongside Dithyrambic Singers under the baton of Gerard Salonga. In 2023, she participated in the Vietnam International Choir Competition Hoi An as a choir soloist with UCSI Chamber Choir and was awarded the golden diploma in the mixed choir category.
