Has taught a Python-based weather data analysis tool called CDAT (Climate Data Analysis Tool) during my Master's degree in National University of Malaysia. Has also published a paper that uses this specific Python-based tool called "The Performance of different cumulus parameterization schemes in simulating the 2006/2007 southern peninsular Malaysia heavy rainfall episodes."

As practical as possible. Since most students who learn Python probably never have tried a programming language in their life, I will teach basics, from variable types (even Python is dynamically-typed, that is conversion to different types is coerced), control structures such as loops and conditionals, comparison operators and such. Because of the seemingly open-ended nature of Python to beginners, I will try to avoid object-oriented concepts, until the student is comfortable with idea of writing custom-defined functions, and the benefits of it. More intermediate programmers will need good instincts in organizing their functions, hence, I will try to arrange many examples of bad, good and cleverly written functions in real-life situations.

I don’t lecture to students or ask them to memorise things. Nor do I do the students’ homework for them! I usually focus on exam-style or past paper questions in order to check, practice and perfect the student’s understanding and technique. I also give a lot of emphasis to some of the less obvious but vital skills such as essay structure and technique, logical thought, and the effective use of numbers and graphs.
