Through my years of working with students in physics I've learned that the problem is often in one of two areas. First, since so much of high school physics is mathematical, students may need support with some of the underlying math skills on which physics is based. Alternately, I find that students sometimes find it challenging to grasp the highly conceptual ideas and theories inherent to the study of physics. Whichever the case, a private physics tutor can be the difference between a good grade and a great one. Take, for instance, the common situation in which a student is too shy or embarrassed to admit that he or she didn't understand a point the teacher made. One of my primary responsibilities as a private physics tutor is to slow things down for the student and insure that he or she fully understands a concept before moving on. Whether they spend lessons reviewing difficult ideas, practicing and drilling on problems, or preparing for upcoming quizzes and tests, my primary goal is to insure that the student understands the material and earns a good grade.
