ONLY teaching from home : Tailor the lessons according to the needs and pace of the students. Focus on the areas she is comfortable or interested in and gradually enhance the areas she is weak at. For younger children (age 6 and below), I will usually start and focus on reading and understanding words introduced in the particular lessons before moving on to writing. Getting the child to read aloud to build confidence in the respective language taught.  (Some children understand better by listening to what they read). NOTE: I do not use phonics to guide children in reading.
