I graduated with B.S in Applied Mathematics and B.S. in Biological Systems Engineering from USA. I have 6 months experience of tutoring Year 9-12 high school students in USA for Maths and Sciences related subjects. I also mentored the seniors on preparatory college entrance assessments. I tutored Form 4 and Form 5 students for one and a half year in a tuition center for the subjects of Physics, Add Maths, and Modern Maths. I am very familiar with the SPM syllabus and examination formats.

Tutoring Approach

I always believed that tutoring is not the same as teaching, and hence depending on the students' proficiency on the subjects, I would normally emphasize on problems solving skills since the main aim would be to improve the results. Emphasis would be on past year trial and real SPM examination questions. Normally, 2 hours per week is sufficient for a subject. The first 45 minutes would be mainly on explanation and tutoring of a concept, while the rest of the time would be on problems solving. For physics, I would use slides or videos as supplementary materials to improve the students' understanding on certain concepts. Whenever required, I would provided some real life examples especially in those more abstract concepts. For mathematics related subjects, I would guide the students step by step on the methods to solve particular type of problems before requesting them to solve problems on their own.
