I have about 15 years of experience in playing music. I was the violist in KLPAC string orchestra, played in several shows as the violinist and lead guitarist, even performing and recording for an industrial metal band. I am passionate about music and could see the positive effects music can give to a person. I've decided to pickup teaching music when some of my friends requested music lessons with me.

For violin, the first few months would be focused on getting the fundamentals right. Posture, bowhold, bow strokes, fingering, reading music notes, etc. The first few months would be tedious as violin is a very difficult instrument. But I assure you your hard work will pay off, you would be able to play many beautiful pieces such as Bach, Beethoven and Mozart. For guitar, after learning just a few chords, you can expect to be able to learn a few songs after just a few session. But if you would like to learn how to shred like Malmsteen or play beautiful riffs like Brian May then I could guide you to that as well.

I am very good with children and like to work with parents to ensure they get a wholesome music education.

I normally give 30 minutes of practical music time along with 15 minutes of theory time. The practical time is where I guide the students in note reading and harness their playing technique. I will choose which book best suit the student at hand and build them from base up. The theory lessons is where they learn, in depth, the meaning of things they see in music scores and how to identify notes etc. I care for the well-being of my students and if I take them under my wings, I will make sure to give them a wholesome music education experience.

My approach to learning music is with discipline, interest, and a deep philosophy for the love of music making. I start off with an hour of class ever week regardless of level. Unlike other music academies or the standard half-hour class time per week for low levels, my approach involves more than just crunching scores. With the extended time, I can carefully monitor, control, and mould the student to implement effective techniques and practice methods. This will also allow time for me to build good and effective relations with the student as well as perform corrective action while the student practices. Other than just playing the instrument, depending on each individual, each lessons are curated and carried out to motivate, cultivate, and develop and interest and passion for music and the instrument. We will also explore other aspects of music such as improvisation (intermediate or higher), musicality, and playing by ear as well as musical knowledge of all time periods including modern and futuristic music. I charge 3 different rates: Low Level - RM300 (Grades 1 - 3/4) Intermediate - RM420 (Grades 4 - 5/6) High Level - RM540 (Grades 6 - 8) Diploma and above - RM650 Learning the violin is difficult and requires an exceptional level of discipline, focus, and consistency.

I don't have much experience in teaching/tutoring, so I am trying to improve in this respect. I am 16 next year and I really enjoy music! I have a younger sister who I often teach (as she learns the piano and violin). Unfortunately, that's all of the experience that I have, but I'm constantly trying to expand my horizons.

My primary focus is on technique and nailing the basics before implementing musicality, and I will concentrate mostly on correcting technique so that the student has the basic fundamentals and foundation necessary to progress smoothly and rapidly. I passed my Grade 8 ABRSM Violin Exam in early July with a distinction, and I am planning on taking my Grade 8 Piano next year. I have a basic Grade 6 qualification in Music Theory, and I can teach theory for roughly Grades 1 to 4 in theory.

My lessons are depending on the student's requirement and speed of learning. Normally for Chinese classes I use one half hour teaching and half hour practicing. My mandarin was educated in a different environment. So I can teach Transitional Chinese as well.
