Ms Lai is an experienced and diligent tutor. She has been teaching both of my children Mandarin (one is SJKC Standard 5 and another is SJKC Standard 2) for more than 2 years. As both have different learning styles, she would teaches them with different approaches according to their capabilities. As she teaches them, she explains the meaning of the Chinese characters/idioms to them in English, for their better understanding of the words and as well as guiding them on how to apply it to exam question format or sentence writing and even perhaps on daily conversation. Teacher Connie taught me Mandarin for 7 months. I had no prior experience in reading or writing in Mandarin except for when I was in kindergarten. Her coaching style is commendable and easy for beginners like me to catch on. Her lessons have helped me in my school Mandarin classes and tests, as well as in everyday conversations. My Mandarin has improved a lot through her lessons, and I managed to score very well in my final Mandarin examination. I am also more fluent and comfortable in speaking Mandarin now. One thing to note is that Teacher Connie still managed to maintain her teaching quality even when we had to switch to online classes.
