I provide one-to-one lessons in CAIE A-Level Further Mathematics and Mathematics, SPM/IGCSE Mathematics, and Additional Mathematics. My teaching will follow a tutorial approach whereby we will be doing exam-style questions. By doing so, students will be able to solidify their understanding of the topics taught and establish great confidence in tackling exam questions. Compared to a normal tutorial session, my tutorial session can enhance your learning skills and improve your critical thinking and solving skills in the future. Each session is conducted for 2 hours. Before attending my session, I firstly send you the notes and the video tutorial weekly by email to allow you to learn the materials I have provided and then revise. The email is usually sent the day before my tutorial sesisons. Worksheets are also included in an attachment of the email so that you have an opportunity to practise. During the first hour of my session, we will discuss the problem sheets together to identify and correct your mistakes. After the break, additional quizzes or trial tests are given to test your knowledge. I will then give you a week assignment to complete. At the end of the assignemnt, I always include an optional question at the end to expand its further applications. I can then provide you some feedbacks so that you can make an improvement for your exam preparation.

I prefer to teach students 1 on 1 through home tutoring, online, or even in cafe/restaurants. Since I do not have any certified teaching experience, I would like to request for a guidance for me to start as a part time tutor.

I would plan my lessons chapter by chapter, following the student's textbook. After teaching each chapter, we would do chapter lessons ranging from easy to complex questions. If the student can answer all complex questions, only then we would continue the next chapter. If not, I will stop and look at the student's problem and discuss together on why the student is unable to solve the question, it could be carelessness, misunderstanding of formula use, misunderstanding the question, unable to capture the whole picture of the question, etc. I believe this approach is doable since in 1 to 1 tutoring you have more focus on the student and can stop to solve all doubts before moving on to the next part. After all chapters are covered and lessons are done, we would do questions covering all chapters like end-of-year papers or past year papers. Of course, I will also hugely encourage a two way learning whereby we both participate in the discussions of the problems together and not a one way learning instead.
