Tutoring Approach

My approach to tutoring is that I tailor my lesson to the needs of the student. I will tutor in my own home or that of the student. I will vary my style depending on the ability and needs of the student. I aim to run my lesson in support of the progression of my students through their music syllabus, but I am also willing to progress more slowly and focus on particularly weak areas if the student so desires. I will also offer pre-exam revision sessions for all exams including ABRSM, Trinity and IGCSE Exam. As I aim to tailor my lesson to the individual I do expect students to maintain regular contact in regards to their progressions and their individual needs. I expect students come with a clear idea of what it is they hope to get from the music lessons. I will provide each student with a progress log and detailed feedback on how they are performing and areas where they need to improve, I may also set work for my students to complete outside of sessions and for this set work I will listen and observe during the next lesson. I am happy to meet with the parents or guardians of my students prior to the commencement of lesson in order to ascertain what they wish their child to gain from the lesson. I am also happy to meet with parents and guardians regularly during the music lesson to discuss their child's progress and if required I am happy to provide parents with written reports on their child's progress.

I was teaching in a British International School and well versed with IGCSE music subject for key Stage 1 and 2. I also teach piano for students from age 4 to adults for examination and leisure playing. Church music, chord lessons and improvisations lessons are available upon request. I have graduated from Birmingham Conservatoire, UK in Master in Music Performance and Pedagogy with merit. I have obtained distinction in LTCL piano performance and ABRSM Grade 8 practical and theory. I started my teaching career back in 2009 and have taught in UK during my studies. I have experienced in preparing students for performances, ABRSM/Trinity exams and music auditions.

Teach both violin and piano up to Grade 8 including theory. I like to make sure students learn the necessary songs to build up technique but also give room any songs they are interested in learning. My students learn for exam purposes or as a hobby. I was a violin player in a youth group orchestra under Philharmonics orchestra KLCC and PJ live arts centre for a while. I am very good with children and like to work with parents to ensure they get a wholesome music education.

Tutoring Approach

I normally give 30 minutes of practical music time along with 15 minutes of theory time. The practical time is where I guide the students in note reading and harness their playing technique. I will choose which book best suit the student at hand and build them from base up. The theory lessons is where they learn, in depth, the meaning of things they see in music scores and how to identify notes etc. I care for the well-being of my students and if I take them under my wings, I will make sure to give them a wholesome music education experience.
