I have 10 years of experience in psychology, with 6 years of teaching experience in a university. Therefore, I am able to assist university students at different levels of study with a variety of topics in psychology, including research methods, statistics, and academic writing. Having taught over 3000 students, I tailor my lessons to the needs of each student. I believe that there is always a way to help someone understand even complex concepts, and work with each person to ensure they do.

Tutoring Approach

I engage my students directly in the learning process, where each lesson plan will be tailored specifically to their individual needs. My classes are always interactive, where I will actively involve the student in a discussion of the topics at hand, in order to stimulate their thinking and cultivate a more in depth understanding of the concepts. I also use practice exercises, application questions, and sample exam questions to assess mastery of the subject matter, and prepare students for formal assessments. These exercises are all graded, with immediate feedback given to the student to enable them to understand better the demands of the assessment. My approach to learning is that it is a dyadic process, and I work with my students as a team, where I expect them to meet me halfway in the learning process, which includes timely completion of any homework, punctuality, and active engagement with each lesson. Learning is an on-going process, and I do my best to ensure that my students not only are able to master content, but to learn how to think critically and independently, so that they will be able to become independent learners in their own right moving forward.

I provide a demo class for all my students at every level (young learners - adults) before I start tutoring, (we) will first explore the student's needs and goals for the subject of interest. I will end the demo with a short lesson to provide a glimpse of what to expect in upcoming lessons. The purpose of the demo is to collect information in order to tailor make a lesson that suits the unique learning needs of my student. For young learners, the demo would be done together with the parents/caregiver.
