TEACHING PRINCIPLES                                                                                                                           I always organise a consultation session with my potential students first before officially commencing classes. The reason for this is so that I can get a clear picture of the students' ability level, problem areas and goals, and ultimately work hand-in-hand with the students and their parents to address their problems effectively. Please expect your child to be given a pre-determined amount of homework (according to ability level and external/extracurricular commitments) at every class which needs to be handed in at the next tuition class the following week: I can put in hard work to ensure your payment�s worth, but it will be of little use if the student does not have the initiative to improve himself/herself and hence does not want to expend the effort for homework and studying; this will render my time and effort wasted as well. As I am a specialist language tutor I have limited my tuition subjects to only Bahasa Malaysia and English.

Since graduating from University, I have had the privilege of tutoring at Monash University, in social studies. My academic background includes English, Literature, Sociology, Anthropology, as well as political studies - a subject I majored in. I believe that a student can gain from inductive and critical learning, to understand the why and hows. These methods will help students understand the tasks at hand, and will hopefully bring them good grades, and good critical thought.

I believe in interactive learning, which involves the students rationalizing their thoughts and their answers out loud. My lesson plans usually involves a short test of the topic at hand, and holding more in depth discussions around the topic after. I also do not believe in hierarchy, I believe a student can learn better when they trust and are confident around their teachers. To this end, I try and develop a relationship that is based on mutual respect and hopes this translates to confidence and trust in students when they apply themselves in school and during tests.

I have also taught in an English Camp for elementary school children as a teacher for 2 months.
