I follow the syllabus, one chapter at a time. I give questions according to what the students have read in the syllabus (book) and from this, I can tell which chapter they are weak at. I also prefer listening to the student's explanation of the topic, to see how much the student understands. This is for reading subjects, like History and Science. For English, it's more to perfecting sentences and spelling. I prefer giving comprehension questions, because this is where grammar is most tested on. My approach is simple, but I aim to make it a habit for students to perfect good writing skills. As for reading, students would read from a text and I will make them repeat words that they could not pronounce. In terms of spelling, repetitions are a better approach. So I will give the same words and also add new words each time to expand their vocabulary. My best method would be through essays.
