We have been 30 months with Sofia now, recommended by our neighbour. My kids are both in junior and high school. Started with one subject, then we added other subjects under my kid's request just because my kid would like to her stay longer. She is getting more and more looking forward to the lessons to spend time with Sofia. It was a progressive journey too, filled with happy moments for my kid ( who is rather hard to manage). I am learning online Mandarin (Kung Fu specialism) with Donovan; and I am a US citizen residing in the US. I have studied many languages with many teachers and his lessons are stellar and outstanding! He is very organized and tailored the lessons to my interest – which means his lessons really held my interest! Donovan is indeed an excellent teacher in many ways: He is fun, bright, attentive and as detail-oriented as you want to be! You get to pick your own level of detailed orientation within your own lessons and it can even vary lesson-by-lesson; I have never met a teacher like this before!

Our toddler loves Ms L from the first class. We tried to teach him Mandarin, being native speakers ourselves, but he did not seem to catch on. After just two lessons with Ms L, he started dropping Mandarin words. Ms L is always well-prepared for each lesson with fun, creative and engaging materials. Teacher Mike has helped me a lot since 2020 December. He is very helpful and teaches me to think critically and how to apply unique and awesome phrases in grammar and writing. My 13 years old son has been taking English online tuition with teacher Michael for about a year. We find teacher Michael to be a really good tuition teacher. He is conscientious, responsible and takes a lot of time and effort to ensure the lesson is effective. Although we have an hour of tuition, he takes time to prepare before the lesson and also marks homework after the lesson so I think he spends double of time we pay for. In addition, teacher Michael also prepares exams for my son to take after every term and sends me the student progress report, so he is more or less like a school teacher! Other than the actual lesson plan, I also like the fact that teacher Michael always takes time to have a short chat with my son, he will find out about his interest, what’s happening to him that week and so extra activities that fit his interest to keep him engaged with the lesson. Kudos to him for that!

As a parent from a family that doesn’t speak Mandarin at home, I really have problem teaching my child Mandarin subjects, especially the language and history. In the beginning, my child was very weak in Mandarin. She doesn’t enjoy learning the language and the related subjects. She often finds reasons and excuses to skip your classes. Your patience, guidance and encouragement, have made a significant impact on her interest in learning the language. Took my adult speaking lessons with Heng Laoshi for close to 6 months. She’s an amazing and easy going teacher. As a mandarin beginner, I’ve progressed with wider vocabs and better understanding of grammar. Thankful for her!

Her willingness to customize the lessons to match the interest, skill level and schedule of the student. This allows me to learn at a comfortable pace and ensures my lessons are relevant to my day to day life. This is much more engaging than standard syllabus provided elsewhere.

I really like that Yee Jia will create a personalized plan for you. She is also very willing to change the plan of something isn’t working or if the student has any requests that they want to ask. For example in my case, we started reviewing together and I would use an online website to create flash cards to review. This website linked to an app on my phone and the app is able to speak the words out loud so I can listen with headphones. The one downside of this app is that it is a robot voice and it’s not able to do long sentences. Yee Jia worked with me to send me voice messages so that I can listen to them in the car on the way to and from work. She was willing to alter her plan and come up with. Great solution that met my needs and ultimately helped me speed up my Chinese retention. She is also great when it comes to scheduling, since this can be an issue with a busy schedule. She is willing to host the class whenever she is free and able to reschedule if something comes up. This is really nice as things end up happening in life that require your time and that could be during class.

Ms Heng has been my daughters' tutor for 3 years. I like that she emphasises understanding through explanation behind Chinese characters. She takes time to explain thoroughly and go the extra mile with my children whenever they have trouble understanding certain subjects. She tailor her teachings according to my kids level of competence rather than rigidly follow school syllabus. She is also very flexible in arranging classes and sometimes spend a little longer with the kids especially before exam. Highly recommended
