Experience

I recently passed my PhD in Chemical & Environmental Engineering and graduated with First Class in MEng (Hons) Chemical Engineering (2013). I have been teaching during my PhD study in university, and I believe that my experience in the university will help me in handling students from different levels.

Tutoring Approach

My aim as a tutor is to make sure student can understand the subjects and keep him/her interested in the subjects. Understanding and interest will keep student focus and make the learning process easier. Interactions between student and tutor during classes are very important as well in creating a comfortable learning environment. In the beginning, I will test the student's understanding of the subjects, then I will arrange the class materials based on his/her needs. I will use diagram or visualisation whenever appropriate so that student can actually "see" the subject clearly. Visual always helps human to remember more easily as compared to just listening. I would encourage students to ask questions in the class and make sure students can actually understand what he/she has learnt. Students can even ask questions about his/her homework, but I will not do the homework for students. Prior to the exam, I will also prepare students for it by going through homework or past year papers to check the student's knowledge.

Experience

I have been involved in teaching basic level Chemistry to staffmembers in my current workplace (Jabatan Kimia Malaysia) in preparation for their mandatory chemistry assessment test. They have all passed with flying colors. As yet, I have no private tutoring experience but I have occasionally tutored younger relatives and family friends in SPM-level chemistry.

Tutoring Approach

I am proficient in Chemistry (up to Masters level) and Science (up to PMR/PT3 level) I will do a preliminary test to assess the current level of understanding of my students and will tailor my lesson accordingly Printed worksheets for exercises or recommendation for workbooks will be given as necessary.

In the past 3 years, I have mostly provided private tutoring to SPM or O-level students. I have also had experience in teaching A-level Physics. As a Physics major in the University of Malaya, my strengths lie in knowing how to use simple analogies with the aid of slides or graphics to explain complicated ideas, conduct simple coaching for students who need guidance and having great patience and passion in helping a student to succeed in their life.

I normally try to understand students' learning style and plan lessons based on their preferred learning method. I also use stories and illustrations to help students to understand concepts, ask questions from time to time to test their understanding, and provide insights of recent issues or news that are relevant to subject to help students understand real world application of knowledge.

An outstanding and holistic 1st Class Graduate (3.84 GPA) from MRSM Kuala Kubu Bharu or MARA Junior Science College. I'm actively involved in mentorship programmes since primary school until my final years in the MRSM. My leadership & communication skills are also worth mentioning as I was a member in the Student Representative Council and not too mention many other high-ranked positions. My mentees had always loved my ways of teaching as they often said my approach was effective & efficient while maintaining a fun and relaxed atmosphere. You can reach me out anytime throughout the week but our official classes would mostly be on weekends. Depending on your age/level I will adjust the way of teaching and materials according to your best approach to ensure maximum input without feeling burnt out.
