My principle in life is to be honest at all times so I will not sugar-coat anything. So, my first task is to evaluate the student via oral or written questions. This would also include a discussion with the student. Then I would like to have a discussion with the parents (if necessary). It is very essential to gather input from all of them in order to determine what are their end-goals. Next, I would present to them an incorporated version of theirs and my end-goals and how to achieve them. This would include supplementary materials for the student. I also tend to look at the student's personality and attitude towards the subject as I am a firm believer that the mind plays an important role in determining a student's success in life.
