I am a student of History and Political Science in International Islamic University Malaysia, and had graduated from Sayfol International School, having gained the O'Level certificate. I have acquired a minimal total of 1 year of experience in tutoring. As my Major is in the field of History & Civilization, my aim is to educate, pass on and convey the message of the past to the coming generations.

Tutoring Approach

I would first require the past exam papers which had been completed by the students, by which an analysis would be made on the account of the students course difficulties. My approach of tutoring would then be adapted towards the best procedure to assist the students. From my fair share of encounter, the most difficult comprehension of a student to studying History is their presumption that it is a superflous course, by which they find dull and tedious. My personal approach is to provide a vivid image of the situations which had undergone in previous centuries through the providence of Documentaries, Movies and shows (if necessary). It is important, I find, that students require the full image of the environment, atmosphere, and situation to fully comprehend and appreciate the course, which is largely ignored by schools due to time and perhaps lack of due diligence.  Assignments, and writing practices for essays would also be provided. This would then be upgraded to small tests by which students would be required to finish within a given amount of time. Note that these are requirements for examination preparations, for efficient writing and an expectations of examiners, especially in the English (Edexel/Cambridge) GCE/IGCSE syllabus.

Subsequently, as word got out, I frequently received requests from the parents of my schoolmates to tutor their daughters as well. I enjoy teaching as it gives me the pleasure of being able to share my knowledge with others, and I also love the challenge of answering difficult an complex questions. I never give up teaching and explaining until my student has fully understood the subject topic.

Despite being in the workforce, I am up-to-date with the progress of the Malaysian education. I believe that learning should be a fun experience, and hence I want to make my tutorials as interesting as I can. I am honestly not a big fan of the methods used by school teachers, as I don't believe that their aim in teaching is to ensure that their students can fully understand the subject topic. I enjoy teaching subjects while adding a hint of humour in it, which is a useful method for subjects that require a lot of reading and memorising, such as Sejarah. I believe that understanding is the key to doing well in exams, and this is where my skills will come in. Finally, I believe that it is the student's needs that matters most. Before my first tutorial, I plan to have a nice conversation with my student, and understand what he or she wishes to get out of my sessions. Only then will I be able to plan the tutorials accordingly, making sure that I will have a focus for each session. This will ensure that the student will be able to make the most out of the very short 1-2 hour session under my purview.
