I consider myself a versatile musician and a passionate educator. As a performer, I have performed as a pianist and harpsichordist at the Chamber Music Series of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, as a composer, my music has been performed by the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and abroad; as a teacher, I have taught at several universities and private music schools. Some of my students have won scholarships to study at the music specialist school Wells Cathedral in the UK.

Tutoring Approach

To me, rather than mindless drilling, finding natural ways of how the hands move is the key to solving many technical issues. Instead of asking for more feelings, my instructions are concrete. I see music education as a holistic education on aesthetics. Therefore, it gives me joy to see my students grow as a person, as much as a musician, to develop a sense of love for their surrounding, for culture and history etc.

I started teaching in the year of 2010. My methods used a lot of colored pictures and graphics to help with the teaching process. I make sure to present with dynamics, counting, phrases, and form. Besides, teaching by choice based on students' preferences is always my priority. I have a good own teaching method for beginners and amateurs. Once students master the outline of my syllabus, they can easily pick up on the music playing. I am good at handling 8 years old to 18 years old children. I work closely with parents with proper guidance. I have a positive attitude and I strongly encourage students to take certified exam board examinations.
